Bere Island Projects Group have been awarded €24,500 from The Heritage Council’s Heritage Organisations Support Fund 2025. This funding will be used to implement actions on the 2025 workplan for the Bere Island Conservation Plan.
The Conservation Plan was launched in 2003 as the result of a partnership with Bere Island Projects Group and The Heritage Council as a way to document and protect the island’s archaeological, built and cultural heritage and it’s biodiversity. Since then a number of actions have been implemented.
Plans for the 2025 workplan include continuing to digitise all island heritage collections, holding the annual military heritage festival, editing the Ed White Film Collection into a 30 minute segment to be screened at an island event and made available online, undertaking a review of the Conservation Plan and facilitating a full programme of events for National Heritage Week 2025.
